The Future of Manufacturing – From AI to Robotics and Harvesters

Manufacturing Performance Days brings Ponsse’s Scorpion forest machine to Sorsapuisto Park. The event also features cutting-edge technologies such as an industrial robot that communicates like a coworker and a 3D-printable part designed with the help of artificial intelligence.

Held for the ninth time in Tampere, Manufacturing Performance Days (MPD) brings together industrial leaders, technology influencers, and solution providers. The event showcases the latest innovations in manufacturing.

The Scorpion, a state-of-the-art forest harvester from Ponsse, will be showcased next to Tampere Hall in Sorsapuisto Park throughout the event.

“Scorpion is the most modern harvester on the market – both in terms of its mechanical and digital features. We have significantly developed our production in recent years, and continuous renewal is essential for us. For Ponsse, it is important to be present where the most advanced and forward-looking professionals in the industry meet. MPD offers us a unique view into the future of manufacturing, and participating as a frontrunner strongly supports our growth,” says Juho Nummela, CEO of Ponsse.

A robot cell will also be presented in which a machine and a human communicate seamlessly – just like coworkers. KUKA Digital and Smartom have developed a demonstration based on Noux Node’s technology, where a collaborative robot (Cobot) interacts fluently with production control systems, MES platforms, IT infrastructures, and human users. At the core of the technology is Noux Node’s Edge solution, enabling local AI control and distributed intelligence in industrial settings.

Productivity Through AI

The theme of Manufacturing Performance Days is "Manufacturing in the Age of AI". The program focuses on the impacts of artificial intelligence on productivity and industrial development. On stage, we will see a demonstration by SelectAM’s Chief Business Officer, Kalle Lepola, where a part is designed using artificial intelligence. A model is generated from a prompt, the suitable manufacturing technique and material requirements are simulated, and an accurate cost and lead time are calculated to support the manufacturing decision.
The part will be produced during the event, and the finished product will be on display on the second day of the event.

MPD also dives into discussions on how AI is transforming manufacturing processes, boosting efficiency, and reshaping the future of work. In addition to geopolitical developments, the event addresses sustainability goals and the growing need to combine social, ecological, and economic perspectives in future industrial solutions.

Event partners include: Beckhoff Automation, Dassault Systèmes, DIMECC, Fastems, Reaktor, Siemens, Tampere University, Technology Industries of Finland, VTT, AIKA Ecosystem, CSC, EIT Manufacturing, Elisa Industriq, Escaltech, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, KUKA Digital, M-Files, Netum, Noux Node, Ponsse, Smartom, TeamViewer, Top Data Science, Advian, Bosch Rexroth, Brightly Works, Comatec, Delfoi, Digiyritysneuvonta, Fujitsu, EAGLE, HiQ, IFM, Innofactor, Konepajakoulu, Knowit, PLM Group, Reboot Skills, Robocoast, Sofigate, Snowflake, SusTool, Teaching Factory Competence Center, TTreon, Unikie, Vincit, Wapice, Data Design, Fliq Oy, Lenz, Mastos, Missing Link, PipeCloud, Resoniks, Select AM, Spogen.ai, and Topaasia.
